Study models are constructed from impressions in such cases and mounted using a face bow registration to accurately represent the actual tooth orientation in the mouth.
Following the proposed prescription, wax can then be added to the teeth to show the proposed definitive tooth position, shape and contour. Such processes can be used for one tooth or a full mouth reconstruction.
In addition, such diagnostic wax-ups can be transferred to the mouth using a transfer stent so that our patients can gain an insight into how the final result will look and feel. The diagnostic wax-up can also be used to construct temporary restorations after the preparation of teeth.
